JOIN US IN CREATING A BETTER WORLD FOR ANIMALS

We are looking for a Grants Advisor to help ensure World Animal Protection's grants are effectively coordinated, governed and administered throughout their lifecycle.

You will bring specialist grants knowledge to support a global portfolio of incoming, outgoing, pass-through and affiliate-funded grants, helping colleagues navigate grant requirements, compliance, reporting, monitoring and close-out. Working across internal teams and with funders, grant recipients and delivery partners, you will help ensure obligations, risks and reporting requirements across a wide range of grants are understood and effectively managed.

This is an opportunity to combine your grants expertise, attention to detail and collaborative approach to strengthen consistent and effective grant management across a global organisation. You will also contribute to improving our grant processes, guidance and ways of working.

What you will be doing

  • Coordinate assigned grants throughout their lifecycle, ensuring obligations, milestones, conditions and reporting deadlines are effectively managed.
  • Interpret grant agreements and requirements, helping ensure grant-funded activity aligns with organisational policies and donor expectations.
  • Coordinate grant set-up, implementation, monitoring, reporting and close-out, maintaining accurate and accessible grant information.
  • Work with colleagues, funders, grant recipients and other external stakeholders to coordinate grant delivery, reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor risks, dependencies and compliance obligations, identifying issues early and recommending appropriate action.
  • Support grant governance and integrate grant management with planning, finance, performance reporting and wider delivery processes.
  • Provide specialist advice to colleagues and help improve grant management processes, guidance, templates and ways of working.

What we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Experience managing or supporting grants across one or more grant types within a complex organisational environment.
  • A strong understanding of the grant lifecycle, including establishment, implementation, monitoring, reporting and close-out.
  • The ability to interpret and manage grant agreements, reporting requirements, milestones, risks, compliance obligations and financial conditions.
  • Experience coordinating grant activities collaboratively across multiple internal teams and external stakeholders, including experience with incoming, outgoing, pass-through or other complex grant arrangements.
  • Sound judgement when identifying grant risks, compliance issues and opportunities to improve how grants are managed.
  • The ability to provide specialist grant-management advice and work independently within established policies and procedures.
  • A solutions focused mindset while working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to navigate conversations diplomatically where there may be varying priorities and perspectives across teams.
  • Experience using grant management, planning or reporting systems to maintain accurate information, track budget, enable visibility of any project requirements and monitor progress.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and organisation skills to be able to work across a wide range of projects with different needs, timelines and dependencies.

Desirable, but not essential

  • Experience working within a global or multi-stakeholder organisation managing complex funding arrangements.
  • Relationship management experience and the ability to build strong relationships with external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365-based planning, reporting or workflow tools that support grant management.
